ARTIST STATEMENT -
Susan Gurry
I have been recently reunited with one of my first 'hobbies', and that is fabric. I like to create fanciful images with fabric, fabric paint, and occasionally paper. I also occasionally find a pattern I like and sew some quilts, but I prefer my free-form creations. They are intended to represent patterns in nature contrasted with everyday objects, such as buttons and ribbons. Often I work for a long time with a similar range of colors, shapes and textiles, until I feel that I am "done".
I also sew cards for every occasion, using fabric scraps, beads, buttons and anything I find that will add to the card's individual style. For me, this is all a work in progress as I explore the various dimensions of fabric and color.
